| Practice Squad: Each team is allowed 3 Practice Squad slots. The spots are for NFL Rookies only. Once a player is placed on the Practice Squad, that player no longer counts toward the 50-man roster limit and are frozen for the year (may not be traded or cut). An owner may activate a Practice Squad player when: 1. An Active Roster player of the same position is listed as "Out." (Example: Marc Bulger is out for Week 7. I can activate a rookie QB off my Practice Squad to have a starter/depth as long as Bulger is listed as "Out." Once Bulger's status is upgraded, the Rookie QB heads back to the Practice Squad.) 2. An Active Roster player of the same position is placed on the team's I.R. (Example: An owner places QB Brett Favre on the I.R. He may then activate a Rookie QB off of the Practice Squad. This Rookie becomes active for the season and counts against the 50-man roster limit.) At the end of the season, Practice Squad players count against the 50-man roster limit. An owner must make cuts to keep the rookie or cut the Practice Squad player. |
